Jackie Tahara founded UnBlink Studio in 2015 in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where she happily creates on-trend surface pattern designs and illustrations destined for the textiles, apparel, interiors and housewares, stationery, children, toy and gift markets.
Her work reflects her love of retro design inspired by the 50's, 60's and 70's; Scandinavian design; the intricate patterns of William Morris and Josef Frank; and the landscapes, textiles and craft traditions she has seen throughout her extensive international travels
In addition to several academic degrees, she has a Diploma in Textile Design from Capilano College (now Capilano University) in Vancouver, Canada, and is constantly working on her portfolio of designs, using both hand-drawn and digital techniques.
She is also a fine artist creating paintings and collages, having completed many commissions; she has collaborated on large group art projects; and has worked with schools teaching art to children of all ages. But she now devotes all her creative energy to making distinctive and wonderful surface pattern designs and illustrations for her growing list of clients.
